Due to the important role of the piston in the engine, the design and manufacture of the piston have also been greatly changed and improved, so as to meet the high emission standards required by the real society. The piston is the central part of the engine and plays an extremely important role when the engine starts. The piston is used to withstand the gas pressure, and the connecting rod drives the crankshaft to rotate through the piston pin, and the top of the piston is also an integral part of the combustion chamber. The general automotive pistons are divided into three categories: diesel engine pistons, gasoline engine pistons, and general-purpose pistons.
Several failure modes of the piston:
1. The wear of the piston exceeds the allowable value, which will reduce the power and speed, increase the fuel consumption and knock the cylinder. 2. The verticality between the center of the pin hole and the center of the ellipse of the skirt is out of tolerance, and torque is generated during use to deform the piston and cause cylinder scuffing. 3. Poor thermal stability. Due to the long-term working at high temperature, it means that the aging and stabilization treatment continues, the piston expands, and the original 0.05mm gap between the cylinders disappears, resulting in cylinder seizure. 4.
